Boston Emissions began airing on 104.1fm WBCN in 1987. Throughout this time the show has been instrumental in introducing and establishing hundreds of Boston and New England bands.
The mission of the show, and its online presence, is to expose and support independent bands and artists - of varying rock styles - from Boston and New England (Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, Rhode Island, and Connecticut).
Boston Emissions with Anngelle Wood airs Sundays at 10pm on 100.7 WZLX, on www.bostonemissions.com and via your smart phone with the CBS Local app. Updated 1/23/14. If you are just reading this now to get into 2014 Rumble, you are too late.
Send your music links — Bandcamp and Soundcloud preferred — with band info to BostonEmissions at gmail ONLY please.
**Please include whether you have radio edits for songs with swears. I will not play shit or fuck. Give me a head up (I’m totally a professional after all!).
THIS IS THE SHOW’S CONTACT EMAIL. PLEASE EMAIL THERE DIRECTLY. NO MAILING LISTS. THANK YOU!
I use email only. I will not keep up with Facebook or Twitter messages.
I have moved toward all-digital submissions.
Send an email if you are releasing a song, record, EP, video, doing a show, planning an event, requesting to come on the show, have a question or want information.
The best way to get played more regularly is to be in touch with me. Regularly.
Take a minute and be specific with the info that you send to me. Be personal.
Make music easily accessible via a Soundcloud and/or Bandcamp site.

HEAVY is the brand new heavy/metal show feature. Heavy bands should send music and band information.
I really do try to listen to everything and appreciate you sending music.
Please know that I get a lot of music. From all over. People from outside of New England want to be played too. It is difficult to keep track of all of it. It may not get played right away. I leave it up to you to keep in touch and update me about upcoming shows.
But please don’t email me every week asking if I got it or when I think I’ll play it. I probably won’t respond.
HEAVY, the new heavy metal feature begins January 12, 2014!
Send music and band info.
The Golden Unicorn winning (RIP BBC) submission requests:
What I play: Everything. That is good. From Boston and New England.
I play heavy stuff. I play arty stuff. I play dance stuff. Just send it.
I mostly concentrate on active bands that are regularly playing out in the live venues in the Boston area.
There is more to being local than the location you give on your band page.
How to get played: The audio quality is as important as the musicianship. I will give new bands a chance but you must consider how it will sound up against what you hear on the show regularly.
Update your band information! I use Facebook, Bandcamp, Twitter, Tumblr, Wordpress to learn about you and follow up.
I do not use Myspace or Reverbnation.
*Because they suck.
- Set google alerts to receive notification when your band is mentioned.
- Send show emails with all the info in time for that Sunday’s show. I base a lot of my playlists on that week’s upcoming shows.

Want more? Learn a little about my show and me. Send an email, say hello. Managers are only so helpful. It is a great idea if an actual band member reaches out. And I really do not care who has played you, who has booked you, what shows you did, what contest you won, who you know, who you work with, or who you are related to. I choose what is played based on the music. Namedropping is dumb. You might go on and on about someone I think is an assbasket.
No one actually reads any of this.
