Boston Emissions began airing on 104.1fm WBCN in 1987. Throughout this time the show has been instrumental in introducing and establishing hundreds of Boston and New England bands.
The mission of the show, and its online presence, is to expose and support independent bands and artists - of varying rock styles - from Boston and New England (Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, Rhode Island, and Connecticut).
Boston Emissions with Anngelle Wood airs Sundays at 10pm on 100.7 WZLX, on www.bostonemissions.com and via your smart phone with the CBS Local app.
I update this info from time to time. Most recent update was 11/20/2013.
YOU SHOULD READ THIS:
Send your music links — I prefer Bandcamp first, Soundcloud second — with band info to BostonEmissions at gmail ONLY please.
If email is sent anywhere other than the BE address will very likely be overlooked.
If you are releasing something - a song, a record, an EP, a video, doing a show, planing a series of shows - let me know about it. The best way to get played more regularly is to be in touch with me. Regularly.
Take a minute and be specific with the info that you send to me. Be personal. I do not wish to receive automated messages from area bands.
I get enough of that from nationals pimping bands from everywhere else.
*I prefer personal emails over mailing list emails and laundry lists of posts naming everyone who has played you. It is impersonal and, while you may like it for “label interest,” it’s lame. But that’s just me.
Please do not add my address to your newsletter list.
I do not follow up on Facebook messages.
I delete unsolicited links on my pages. That’s spam.
I have moved toward all-digital submissions.
Make music easily accessible via a Soundcloud and/or Bandcamp site.
Please include what songs are clean and free of swears. This is a professionally run radio station heard by many thousands of listeners.
I will not risk my job for you. No matter how great the song is, I’ll pass.

I really do try to listen to everything and appreciate you reading this page and sending music. Without you, I have no show.
Please know that I get a lot of music. From all over. People from outside of New England want to be played too. It is difficult to keep track of all of it. It may not get played right away. I leave it up to you to keep in touch and update me about upcoming shows.
But please don’t email me every week asking if I got it or when I think I’ll play it. I probably won’t respond.
There is more if you want to know:
The Golden Unicorn winning (RIP BBC) submission requests:
What I play: Everything. That is good. From Boston and New England. I play heavy stuff. I play artsy stuff. I play all sorts of styles.
Just send it.
I play active bands that are regularly playing out in the live venues in the Boston area (check the local listings to see what venues we look at regularly).
There is more to being local than the location you give on your band page.
How to get played: The audio quality is as important as the musicianship. I will give new bands a chance but you must consider how it will sound up against what you hear on the show regularly.
Update your band information! I use Facebook, Bandcamp, Twitter, Tumblr, Wordpress - to learn about you and follow up.
I do not use Myspace or Reverbnation.
*Because they suck.
- Set google alerts to receive notification when your band is mentioned.
- Send show emails with all the info in time for that Sunday’s show. I base a lot of my playlists on that week’s upcoming shows.
Please identify clean songs. Kick ass songs laced with sh!t and f$ck equal no dice. I hear a lot of awesome songs I will not play. Edit your songs for radio. Your cred will remain intact. I won’t edit it no matter how awesome it is.

Want more? Learn a little about my show and me. Send an email, say hello. Managers are only so helpful. It is a great idea if an actual band member reaches out. And I really do not care who has played you, who has booked you, what shows you did, what contest you won, who you know, who you work with, or who you are related to. I choose what is played based on the music. Namedropping is dumb. You might go on and on about someone I think is a dinkweek.
